Vycom®, a pioneer in the production of innovative plastic sheet products, is advancing its commitment to sustainability by reintroducing the Vycom Recycling Program at the International Sign Expo 2023.

During the event, Vycom will actively collect both printed and unprinted rigid PVC and acrylic sheets from designated exhibitors, with the aim of recycling these materials into the company’s internal product line.

Attendees are encouraged to explore this initiative by visiting Vycom’s booth, located at number 2251 in Las Vegas from April 12-14, 2023.

Mitigating Plastic Waste Impact

Recognizing that sign and graphics shows generate short-term usage of rigid PVC and acrylic for product demonstrations, Vycom returns to the International Sign Expo in 2023 to divert these materials away from landfills.

In 2022, Vycom successfully collected nearly 3,000 pounds of material from the International Sign Expo in Atlanta and over 2,200 pounds of scrap from PRINTING United in Las Vegas. This year, in collaboration with ISA, Mandalay Bay, and Freeman (the official event services provider), printed and cut sheets will be gathered from specially marked bins and repurposed into Vycom’s internal products, thereby preventing their disposal in landfills.

Collection bins will be strategically placed in the ISA Green Recycling Zone and booths of partner OEMs, such as Mimaki and Cutworx, facilitating the collection of rigid PVC and acrylic scraps and trim as part of their live demonstrations.

This program is offered at no cost to participating International Sign Expo 2023 exhibitors, creating a mutually beneficial arrangement for the print service provider/fabricator, the customer, and the environment. The initiative has the potential to keep tens of millions of pounds of signage and graphics waste out of landfills annually, marking a significant step towards a more sustainable future for the industry.

Contribution to The AZEK Company’s ESG Goals

Vycom operates as an affiliate of The AZEK Company, renowned for manufacturing aesthetically pleasing, low-maintenance, and sustainable outdoor living products. The AZEK Company, in its fiscal 2022, diverted approximately 500 million pounds of waste and scrap from landfills, making significant progress towards its FULL-CIRCLE goal of using 1 billion pounds of waste and scrap annually in product manufacturing across its portfolio.

Vycom’s commitment to sustainability aligns with The AZEK Company’s broader environmental, social, and governance (ESG) goals, emphasizing the circular use of materials to minimize environmental impact.

Premium Solutions for the Display Graphics Industry

Vycom excels in producing market-leading brands of highly innovative plastic sheet products. Notably, its printable Celtec® family, including DigiLite®, Woodgrain, and Thick Gauge materials, offers an unmatched range of thicknesses, finishes, and textures in extruded PVC sheets—all produced in the United States.

Vycom also presents Polycarve® sheets, a multi-colored HDPE material designed for creating dimensional, color-contrasting signage using conventional routing and woodworking tools. Available in five standard color combinations, the Polycarve line showcases a contrasting core color that becomes visible when the top layer is routed, making it an ideal solution for dimensional artistic expression, wayfinding, or durable outdoor signage.

About the Vycom Recycling Program

The Vycom Recycling Program is specifically crafted to retrieve and recycle both printed and unprinted rigid PVC and acrylic sheets, as well as scraps and drops from finishing and fabricating processes.

This program caters to users of rigid PVC, acrylic, and PE products, encouraging collaboration with authorized distributors for convenient drop-off or collection. The recycled signage and scrap are then returned to Vycom’s recycling facilities, supporting the production of the company’s residential and commercial outdoor living and exterior products while preventing the disposal of these materials in landfills.
