A weekly procurement briefing for international sign buyers on European 230V dimming rules, US 120V Class 2 crating, and APAC monsoon moisture specs.
Executive Summary: Late-September 2026 export jobs turn on three checks: night-dimming curfews in Western Europe, 120 V Class 2 pre-wiring audits in North America, and fully potted IP68 modules for late-monsoon humidity in Southeast Asia. Write voltage, IP and the destination city on the RFQ before the crate leaves the shop.

Europe & the United Kingdom Municipal authorities in Germany, France, the Netherlands and the UK are enforcing urban light-pollution and energy rules. Exterior illuminated signs must shut down or cut output by at least 60% between 22:00 and 06:00.
Static on/off contactors are no longer enough. Letters and lightboxes need 0–10V or DALI-2 drivers, tied to a photocell or astronomical clock.
Crating rules sit on the Export build sheet . Electrical grids: EU, UK and Australasia crates stay on 230 V / 50 Hz .
Label the junction box so field electricians do not mix phases. Coastal alloy: Sites within 15 km of Atlantic, North Sea or Mediterranean water are specifying Grade 316 for exposed returns, studs and brackets.
Grade 304 tea-stains in salt spray within months. Buyer RFQ: Write “230 V / 50 Hz, IP67 drivers with 0–10V dimming, Grade 316 on coastal jobs, CE/UKCA secondary harnesses.” North America & Australia US and Canadian AHJs are delaying municipal electrical inspections and checking the split between primary feeds and secondary low-voltage runs.
Outdoor advertising code updates are tracked by the Out of Home Advertising Association of America . Voltage: US and Canada crates are 120 V / 60 Hz (or 277 V on named industrial jobs).
Australia stays 230 V / 50 Hz under RCM. Do not mix 120 V transformers into an AU crate.
Class 2: Secondary wiring from LED supplies must stay NEC Class 2. Use nylon grommets where cable passes a metal return.
Listings: Modules, drivers and disconnects can ship as UL-recognized components on request. Whole-sign listings or field evaluations are quoted per job and jurisdiction — this shop does not claim a factory UL 48 or RCM mark.
Buyer RFQ: Split multi-region rollouts: US “120 V / 60 Hz Class 2”; Australia “230 V / 50 Hz RCM-compliant assemblies.” Asia & Southeast Asia Retail and hospitality facades in Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia are still adding flagship mall and transit work, while late monsoon humidity is failing ordinary IP65 modules. IP68 potting: Spec fully silicone-potted IP68 modules with welded lenses for 95% RH. Standard IP65 packs pump moisture in tropical heat.
Local grids: Singapore and Malaysia are 230 V / 50 Hz. Japan is 100 V (50 Hz east / 60 Hz west).
South Korea and the Philippines are 220 V / 60 Hz. Name the city; do not assume 230 V.
Drainage: Outdoor pylons and cabinets need 10 mm weep slots lined with stainless mesh so insects do not nest and short the junctions. Buyer RFQ: Require IP68 modules, municipal voltage on the drawing, and insect-screened weeps on equatorial cabinets.
Freight and commissioning Q4 boxes into Rotterdam, Hamburg and Long Beach still need about 14 extra transit days. Sample crates for European and North American expos should show modular disconnects and light aluminium frames to cut cube.
In Australasia, AS/NZS 3000 still requires RCM marks on primary drivers and a ground-level isolation switch; missing either stops energisation at handover.
